Brian and his blankie – Personal Projects – Saginaw Portrait Photographer

I have started an ongoing personal project to photograph individuals who still have their childhood cuddly toy or blankie. My first participant is Brian! I sent him 5 questions to answer about his blankie and had a mini session on a lovely sunny fall day back in October.

Brian and his blankie

1. How/where/when/from whom did you get your blanket/stuffed critter?

My blanket was a gift from a baby shower.

2. Where did you go together? What did you do? Was it/he/she with you every night for sleep? Did it/he/she go places with you?

We went on overnight trips to Grandma’s house and on vacations. I slept with it every night. It would come along with me on long car trips as well.

3. What is/was your favorite thing about your blanket/stuffed critter?

I like the softness. It was comforting to have it with me at night or while watching cartoons.

4. Tell me a story about something involving your blanket/stuffed critter.

I don’t really have any specific stories about it. Although my grandma could never understand why I always had it.

5. Is your blanket/stuffed critter still a part of your life today?

It’s not a part of my day to day life now. It’s one of the few things I’ve kept from my childhood. I don’t see myself ever throwing it out. It has a special spot on a shelf along with one of my favorite books from when I was little.

Baby Tatum – Saginaw Newborn Photographer

I love newborn sessions! Baby Tatum was an absolute joy to photograph. It took a little bit of patience, but we were finally able to get her to sleep. I like that aspect of newborn photography. We don’t have to rush, and in fact, it’s best if we don’t. And then at the end, we get lots of soft sleepy baby images. I did this session in the Saginaw Township home of my client. This works out well because it allows everyone to be relaxed and comfortable and it’s easy to take breaks to feed and change the baby. I hope you love these images of this sweet baby girl as much as I do!

Senior Rep Phil – Saginaw Senior Photographer

I’ve been to Old Town Saginaw quite a bit lately. Everyone loves the cool look of the area and all of the grungy textures. I do too!

I met Phil and his mother around sunset when the light gets low, golden, and gorgeous! All of my senior reps received a mini-session with a full session to follow later in the summer. We captured some great images and I can’t wait for the full session!

He’s grown up so handsome! – Saginaw Portrait Photographer

T wanted to get some updated head shots to have for dance auditions. It had been a while since we had a session together so I was excited to do it. The day was sunny but a little chilly. You wouldn’t know it to look at T. He toughed it out and as a result, we got some fantastic images!

We headed down to Old Town Saginaw for the first part and wandered around looking for great textures and beautiful pockets of light. Then we went to Ojibway Island to capture some dancing action surrounded by green trees, grass and bright blue sky. Yay!

Phunk Shway – Saginaw Band Photographer

I was lucky enough to get a call to do some last minute promotional photos for the band Phunk Shway.

They braved the cold with me while we went in search of great light, color, and texture. We found plenty of all three in Old Town Saginaw, always one of my favorite areas to shoot in.

The guys were super great to work with. Lots of energy and fun! And they were very tolerant of me making them tromp through the snow looking for the good spots! I’m glad, because all the tromping paid off in the end!

You can find Phunk Shway online at phunkshway.com and on Facebook!

Look at those cheeks! – Saginaw Newborn Photographer

This baby girl was everything I could have hoped for. Sweet, soft, chubby perfection. She put up with me moving her all over the place and stayed sleepy almost all the way. I took these right before I acquired a bunch of newborn props. I so so wish I would have gotten them just a little bit earlier! Fortunately mom had some of her own stuff on hand, like that adorable hat in the third photo from Bouquet Beanies. It’s the “Twisted” hat and you can get interchangeable flowers to go with it, to change the look of your hat in seconds. I can’t wait to order one of my own! It’s going to be so hard to choose which flowers I want!

The Lovely Holly – Saginaw Maternity Photographer

I really love that I was able to capture Holly’s baby journey, from maternity portraits, to the birth session, to the newborn portraits afterward. We were able to capture so many beautiful images that I just LOVE.

We did the maternity portraits in two segments. We went to Ojibway Island in the evening, and then the next morning. We finished off the second part of the session at Holly’s home with some fairly naked black and white shots (ooh la la!) The light on the island is gorgeous in the morning! I love the way the weeping willows look with the golden light shining through the leaves. Perfection.

Here are some of my favorites from Holly’s maternity sessions. Enjoy!

Fun Family Session – Saginaw Family Photographer

This family only gets everyone together a few times a year. While they had everyone in one place, they wanted to have a family portrait session. They were staying at the Holiday Inn Express, which had a lovely lobby area. It was all decorated up for the holidays in silver, turquoise, and pink. They had a big Christmas tree in front of a fireplace. Really, very nice. I thoroughly approve!

This was a fun group. Everyone had a great time, talking, laughing, teasing. So the session seemed to take no time at all. Here are a few images that I particularly liked.

A fun walk at Delta College – Saginaw Pet Photographer

For this session with J and Booji, we took a stroll through the woods at Delta College. Booji had a great time smelling things and peeing on things. When he decided it was time to take a rest, we found the perfect place for resting and photographing!
